Scifi Trivia Clip #2

Okay, gang, can you name the movie?? C'mon, I gave you 2 minutes worth! And it's not Flash Gordon or some lost outtake from Star Trek...

Wow! Whotta movie! I see a temple-like setting, three women waiting. Some old guy who looks like Leonard Nimoy acting the part of a priest puts on a black executioner's hood, and opens a door to blinding light. The three women file out to a kind of "this is bad stuff happening" music, each taking off their robe in turn and stepping into the light ostensibly naked. Next we see some guys with stretchers go and fetch back bodies that have been painted black. I guess we're supposed to conclude that whatever makes the bright light burned those three women to a crisp.

From the looks, it was made sometime in the early sixties or late fifties. It could well have been a Flash Gordon movie, except that Greg says it isn't. And the old guy is too old for Leonard Nimoy, and probably doesn't even look like Nimoy in the first place.

I'm guessing it takes place on Venus or Mercury, where women are sacrificed to the sun, which is close and will give you one heck of a tan.

So, not knowing a heck of a lot about old SciFi movies, and having spent enough time using the Google to search the internets for a clue, I'm just going to make up a title: Venus Needs More Women

Just to clear up the whole Leonard Nimoy on Venus thing... it's actually from 1956's The Mole People. I figured a clip of the actual molemen would be a dead-giveaway, so went for this scene that I remember kind of traumatizing me as a little kid -- those women getting willingly fried crispy just freaked me out.

But must say Venus Needs More Women sounds like something that would have really traumatized my fragile young mind!!
