June 4th discussion at Library

Hi everyone -- Just a heads-up! Next Sunday's 2 PM discussion at the library is happening at the same time as Utah Pride, which takes place at Washington/Library Squares on June 4th from 11 AM - 6 PM. So you might want to arrive a little early to find a place to park in the neighborhood. If you've never been down there when Pride is going on, it's HUGE, and parking can be a bear.

Also, just a reminder that we talked last time about meeting on the second floor by the fireplace. Maybe Barney won't find us to shush us. See you there!

Hey All,

I was bowled over by the stomach flu yesterday. I literally couldn't pull myself out of bed for half the day. I'm not quite back up to full energy so I won’t be able to make the book club meeting.

I really loved "Spin State". I stayed up a few nights into the wee hours of the morning reading - I couldn't put it down. I always love a strong female character too. I'm planning on buy the sequel.

If anyone catches this before the gathering, Ryan suggested a book to me for August that sounds interesting.

The Difference Engine "A collaborative novel from the premier cyberpunk authors, William Gibson and Bruce Sterling. Part detective story, part historical thriller, The Difference Engine takes us not forward but back, to an imagined 1885: the Industrial Revolution is in full and inexorable swing, powered by steam-driven, cybernetic engines. Charles Babbage perfects his Analytical Engine, and the computer age arrives a century ahead of its time."

Sorry I couldn’t make it. See you next month.

Hi Loria -- we missed you! I guess you'd call this the "testosterone meeting," first meeting I think we've ever had with just the guys. Sorry to hear you were sick... hope you're feeling better! Glad to hear you got a kick out of the book, sounds like you & Rod (who also enjoyed it) were the only ones who finished it, though Zac and Helge were loving what they'd read so far. Difference Engine sounds cool... never read it myself. Maybe we can do that one for Sept (wow, hard to believe we're already looking at fall books!) Hang in there -- see you soon "-)

Oops, you're right, you told me that... Marissa liked it too! So, Helge, explain that whole Einstein thing you were talking about... here's the Wikipedia version (I think): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bose-Einstein_condensate...
